Citizen: Appleseed XIII – Dubai Mall, UAE 2012
Role: Exhibition Designer / Art Director Citizen launched its state of the art limited edition ‘Eco Drive Satellite Wave", 900 watches costing $6,000.00 in 2012. The Fashion Cat walk Arena at the Dubai Mall, UAE was chosen to promote this event over 3 days. The theme was developed along the lines of Citizen combining Japanese anime Appleseed XIII's characters - Duenan, Briareos and Olympus the city of the future, towards producing this special limited-edition time piece. All exhibition, digital and print promotional materials including presenter costumes were produced in line with Appleseed 13 theme. Apart from the usual exhibition units - the Fashion catwalk boasted 360 full LED screens which emerged from the ground upwards, including vertical curved TVs along it's circular balcony. It also has a unique circular LED TV screen in the style of 5 vertically stacked rings with separation capability, hung directly above the cat walk. Various installations, interactive units were conceptualized, designed and built to showcase this technological breakthrough and design wonder along with Citizen's great history as an international watch maker. Blueprint For The Future – Show-Reel
Role: Head of Design National Strategy using Artificial Intelligence is the brainchild of Mr. Dammika Perera, a businessman and entrepreneur who in 2013 was named the richest man in Sri Lanka. His main desire is to be a policy maker, and firmly believes that we could save time, money and both human and natural resources if we could implement Artificial Intelligence to any system, thereby speeding up its development process. Discovery Due to the sluggish development situation in the country, an immediate, effective solution is required to assist failing industries and eventually improving the economy. Mr. Dammika Perera’s proposed solution is the implementation of Artificial Intelligence. AI would enable one to interpret large data patterns with speed and accuracy and would help achieve specific goals and manage resources efficiently. Design After immense research into Mr. Dammika Perera’s ideals and complex case studies, the concept of a “Blueprint for the Future” was developed. The design language communicated strategy and technological advancements to a millennial audience through storytelling and vector animated short videos. Each video illustrates an existing problem of inefficiently allocated resources and its proposed solution with the use of AI. Delivery As days progressed towards the event date, a micro-website and teaser campaign was designed and launched to promote sales and participation. Web banners were designed as a call to action and a link to the site for updates. Additionally, the three animations that were produced based on existing situations from the Fisheries, Police and Health Care sectors in Sri Lanka were promoted on all digital platforms. Tony Davies – Show-Reel
Role: Head of Design Tony Davies Consultancy is a project management company spearheaded by Tony Davis, an ex-Royal Navy Engineer and a Prince 2, Lean Six Sigma: specialist. His company offers a consultancy service aimed at helping mid-level to large organisations identify and eliminate inefficiencies and waste, and optimize processes using this method. Discovery Mismanagement and poor internal communication in organisations, result in waste, mainly due to overproduction, uncertainty, transportation, inappropriate processing and excess inventory. Lean Six Sigma: is an opportunity amongst chaos, and a highly structured and organized system, utilizing existing resources and essentials to maintain zero waste. Design An element that stood out reflecting Lean Six Sigma: characteristics was the Chinese tangram puzzle. Tony Davies’ background tied in with strategy and warfare leads us to the Greek goddess of wisdom, Athena is represented by an owl, a creature known for its wise and calculative nature Delivery Having established a strong and effective brand identity that communicates the brand essence, and business objectives symbolically, we are able to now apply this brand architecture right across all promotional materials from print to digital media and also all internal communication.
